About Bird Nerds

Bird Nerds is a blog about paying attention to birds. Field notes from real mornings, honest gear write-ups, species deep dives, and the occasional argument about gull identification that nobody wins.

Nothing here is sponsored and nothing is written from a press release. If a pair of binoculars is disappointing, that is what the post says.

What you'll find here

• Field notes — where we went, what showed up, what we missed.
• Identification — the features that actually separate two confusing birds.
• Gear — binoculars, cameras and bags, tested in the rain.
• Seasons — what to look for this month, and where.
